WHO WE ARE
Our Story
Hope Church Wellingborough Elim is a dynamic, Spirit-filled, and diverse congregation with a rich history and a profound legacy of faith and service with deep roots in the community.
Originally established as a Wesleyan Reformed Church in the early 1970s, then known as New Life Church and has now flourished into Hope Church, under the guidance of dedicated passionate leaders, including current Pastor Deanna Joyce who was inducted into office
on 25th September 2021.
We joined the Elim Pentecostal movement on 5th November 2018, expanding our mission and reach, and we welcome people from all backgrounds and nationalities. Today, Hope Church is more than a place of Sunday worship—
it’s a heart of support and inspiration for the entire community.
Our Mission
Transforming lives and finding hope through the love of Jesus!
The History of Elim
Elim is more than just this one local church in Wellingborough, it is a movement of Pentecostal churches working in the United Kingdom, Ireland and over 40 nations around the world. The Elim Pentecostal Church is a growing Movement of more than 550 Christian congregations in the UK and Ireland.
Elim was founded in 1915 by George Jeffreys, a young Christian from Maesteg in South Wales. Jeffreys and a group of friends, known as the Elim Evangelistic Band, preached, started
churches and witnessed a move of God that was characterised by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians.
In a world that can feel like a desert, our 21st century churches seek to be a place of spiritual resource within their communities. The founders wanted the name of their new Movement to
express their vision and values, and so chose ‘Elim’, the name of an oasis in the Bible that the people of Israel discovered as they wandered through the desert. It provided shade and
refreshment to all who encountered it. (Exodus 15:27)
